East River – 2/10/12

I fished the East River for about 3 hours on Friday afternoon. The water was low, crystal clear, and cold. The trout were fairly active and were hitting a big size 6 stonefly nymph pretty good. The small size 20 baetis nymph trailing behind got some fish as well. The rainbows were chunky and had nice dark colors like this one here. Winter is still here with more snow coming, but the fishing seems to be picking up. There is plenty of open water to fish now.
