It sure rained a lot on this trip! Lots of big-time thunderstorms each evening. The weather was nice early in the week, but by the end of the week it got pretty nasty. The occasional afternoon thunderstorms turned into day-long rain storms. And there was no shortage of thunder and lightning. Jimmer came up mid-week, and Hector came up for the weekend. It was Hector's first year at fish camp, and we're pretty sure he brought the rain with him. (So now when Hector arrives, we automatically break out the rain gear.) Though the weather was pretty bad, we had a very successful week. We caught more than enough fish to keep us busy, taking some nice browns on the Beaverkill, and we had lots of fun. For me, I caught some of the nicest fish ever on this trip, and in the worst weather. Now I look forward to those rainy days, and going after the larger fish. It's also less crowded when the weather is crappy, and that, to me, is a beautiful thing. We spent a lot of time on the Beaverkill, and we took some nice fish in Hendrickson's Pool and Cemetery Pool. Later in the week we fished the Willowemoc. By Saturday, the sun was back out, and it was a real nice day. (And of course by Sunday, the day we had to leave, it was absolutely beautiful!) We all caught fish on the Willowemoc, and at one point Jimmer and Hector hooked up at the same time. My fly rod was just chasing fish away, so I took out my new digital camera and got some shots of the guys. |
