Hendrickson's Pool, 1949
This is an old photograph of Hendrickson's Pool on the Beaverkill. The date
written on the bottom of the picture is April 6, 1949. The large rocks visible
in the middle are the ones we still use today to gauge the depth and flow of the
river. In this photo, it's early spring, and the water is high, nearly covering
the rocks completely. We believe this photo was taken by a gentleman who
recently passed away, an angler who enjoyed fly fishing in the Catskills back in
his day. This page is dedicated to him, and to all the Catskill fly fishers who
came before him. He could never have imagined back then that his photograph
would be here on Riffle and Rise more than 50 years later! I wonder where our
Fish Camp photos will be in 50 years?
