My name is John Bocchino, and I go by John or Bo. I live on the western slopes of the Colorado Rockies, in Gunnison. I have been living in Colorado since April, 2006. I managed the Willowfly Anglers Fly Shop and ORVIS Endorsed Guide Service at Three Rivers Resort in Almont for five seasons. I ran the business and also guided. I currently work for Willowfly Anglers as an ORVIS Endorsed Fly Fishing Guide and guide full time during the season. I am also an ORVIS field tester.

When I am not working, I am fishing. This part of the Rocky Mountains is home to some of the best trout rivers in the country, including the Gunnison River, Taylor River, and East River. In addition to these three rivers, there are countless opportunities to fly fish on a variety of water in the area.

Willowfly Anglers - ORVIS Endorsed Fly Fishing Outfitter

Willowfly Anglers employs a full staff of fly fishing guides during the season, and we are the only ORVIS Endorsed Fly Fishing Outfitter in the Gunnison Valley. We offer half and full-day guided fly fishing trips, as well as schools and clinics. We also offer walk/wade trips on private ranches where you can enjoy beautiful scenery and awesome fishing, and the solitude that fishing private water provides. My specialty is guiding clients on our private lease on the East River, at the East River Anglers Club (ERA).

The ERA is a beautiful wild trout fishery, and it is my favorite river to fish and guide on. It is our premier walk/wade trip, and you'll need to book it in advance during the summer months, and also in September during our kokanee salmon run. I guide on the ERA Monday through Friday. This lease is not available on weekends.

Three Rivers Resort

The Willowfly Anglers fly shop is located at Three Rivers Resort in Almont, Colorado. The resort sits at 8,000 feet in the Rockies, at the gateway to the Taylor Canyon - where the Taylor River merges with the East River to form the historic Gunnison River. Three Rivers Resort offers a variety of lodging options, including cabins on the Taylor River.

During the off-season and throughout the year, I also do consulting work. With my consulting business, Riffle and Rise Consulting, I provide web development and technical consulting services for small businesses, non-profit organizations, and fishing clubs.
