Riffle and Rise offers guided fly fishing trips and instruction on a premier stretch of private water on the Taylor River. Located in the heart of Taylor Canyon, with access to a mile of river, the focus here is on providing a quality experience in a beautiful setting where anglers can learn about fly fishing.
There are plenty of trout in the pocket water and pools throughout this stretch of river. And the river-side property includes a nice lawn for casting instruction. Management of the fishery and access to the river are shared with our neighbors, including Eleven’s Taylor River Lodge located right next door.
For those who are interested in gaining a more in-depth knowledge of fly fishing, there is additional emphasis on instruction both on and off the river. These guided trips can be a single day or cover multiple days. Anglers will have an opportunity to learn more about fly fishing gear and tackle, knots and rigging, as well as a variety of casting techniques. In addition, specific instruction can be provided for hooking, fighting and landing fish, and proper handling and release of trout, as well as the importance of respecting others on the river. Conservation issues and proper etiquette on the water are important aspects of fly fishing instruction that are often left out. And to build on this, we can dig into insect life cycles (hatches) and how to apply this to fly selection. The ability to successfully match the hatch can truly take anglers to the next level. Actually learning about fly fishing and going beyond just catching fish, is how you will become more self-sufficient on the water and have more enjoyable experiences.
